Have you been published in the past? Particularly in the UK or Ireland?
How much publicity did you enjoy and how much financial benefit was it crowned with?
Well, here is another chance to prove your literary worth again. By demonstrating your fine craft through the rhythm of your pen and paper before the world, £30,000 could be yours.
The Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award is, at £30,000 to the winner, the world’s richest prize for a single short story.
Launched in 2010, the prize is an international award that aims to promote and celebrate the excellence of the modern short story and has attracted entries from some of the world’s finest writers.

Guidelines
  • Write a story of 6,000 or less
  • The Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award is open to writers of any nationality.
  • Stories should be of about 6,000 words or fewer and original.
  • Entrants just have to show a previous record of publication in creative writing in the UK and Ireland.
  • Entries can be either unpublished or first published after 1 January 2015.
  • The winner of prizes will be announced on 22 April 2016
  • Both email and postal entries are accepted.
