Job Title: Senior Financial Account

Job Descriptions

Responsible for General ledger accounts management and reconciliation. Ensure that Balance sheet reconciliations are completed for review by the Chief Accountant and the Finance Director on a monthly basis;
Assisting in timely completion of the high quality monthly reports;
Adherence to monthly closing checklist and closing calendar;
Assist the Chief Accountant in preparing internal management reporting to the Executive Management and the board of directors as directed from time to time;
Assist the Chief Accountant in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual management reports;
Support month and year end close process;
Assist in ensuring timely completions of Internal and External Audits. Respond to queries from auditors and ensure implementation of all recommendations raised during the audit;
Assist ad-hoc analysis requests from the Chief Accountant;
Assist in the provision of financial analysis and preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and projections;
Accomplishes department and organization mission by completing related results as needed;
Ensure accurate preparation and submission of VBN HFM Reports to Group;
Analyzing general ledger accounts, to identify costs that should be capitalized and included in fixed assets;
Completing standardized forms to set up entries on the fixed asset register, or in the asset management system;
Preparing capitalization entries;
Monitoring reports to ensure that assets are correctly entered into the fixed assets sub-ledger;
Completing forms to record transfers of equipment from one department to another;
Relocations of equipment, sales, disposals, thefts, and other losses;
Reconciling the fixed asset register or sub-ledger, or the subsidiary asset management system to the general ledger control account for each class of fixed assets, and resolving any reconciling items;
Preparing depreciation schedules and making accounting entries to record depreciation expense;
Keeping files of all supporting documentation for fixed assets and capital projects;
Generation of capital projects lists and reports of capitalized assets, values, and depreciation;
Maintaining schedules and files of insurance policies on fixed assets;
Providing information for fixed asset reporting, such as summarizing financial activity for inclusion in the property, plant and equipment section of the financial statements;
Providing information for the preparation of tax schedules for depreciation and for gains and losses on the sale or exchange of fixed assets;
Controlling assets that are not capitalized but for which a control register is maintained, such as tools and small equipment;
Coordinating the physical inventory process for fixed assets;
Reviews of asset activity for compliance with company policy; and
Other duties as assigned by the Chief Accountant.

Strong technical accounting skills including a depth of knowledge of IFRS and its business application
Exceptional analytical problem solving skills

Strong presentation skills
Exceptional modelling skill
Ability to work under pressures and deadline driven
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Ability to research and report on various technical accounting issues.
Very comfortable with Microsoft office applications and SAGE Accounting Packages
Big 4 audit firm experience highly desired
ACA/ACCA qualified with at least 7+ years cognate corporate reporting experience

Job Summary



  • Will process and reconcile a variety of accounting documents such as invoices, billings, cash receipts, vendor statements, and vouchers; prepare and process administrative requests, make deposits and prepare reports; compile and review information for accuracy, etc.

Job Responsibilities


  • Assist Process payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers, employee reimbursements, and statements.

Job Details

  • Must has a good knowledge of the general principles of accounting
    standards (ledger accounts, analytical accounting, etc.) and applies
    this knowledge correctly and independently to the companies falling
    within his remit
  • Organizes and coordinates the smooth functioning of the accounts
    required by the articles of association and the analytical accounts of
    one or more entities (the management and application of standard
    accounting systems, training and supervising associates if necessary,
    etc.).
  • Must be able to read the balance sheet items of a financial report and to
    understand and interpret them. Makes an extensive analysis of balance
    sheet accounts (fixed assets, accounts payable, current accounts, etc.)
  • Establishes a satisfactory follow-up method for the analytical coding in his/her entities.
  • Has a good knowledge and view of all existing accounts. In other words knows where what should be booked.
  • Is responsible for the integration of the pay reports into the
    accounts and in doing so, taking into account national (shipping
    reduction, etc.) and international arrangements.
  • Is responsible for the delivery of information for internal
    financial audits and external audits as well as in assisting with
    supplying all data for internal audits.
  • Prepares overviews and analyses regarding sub-contractors, lease contracts, charter parties, etc.
  • Prepares the financial reports required by the articles of
    association and the analytical quarterly reports for his/her immediate
    supervisor and/or the company’s consolidation department.
  • Keeps an eye on deadlines and if necessary sends reminders. Does
    this both internally (subsidiaries, departments) and externally
    (sub-contractors, customers, etc).
  • Makes a monthly check of the VAT/social security status of the
    entities which fall within his remit as well as of suppliers and
    customers
  • Has a good knowledge of both the national and international VAT
    legislation and can in this respect bring about optimization in
    consultation with Tax Department (e.g. what VAT may be deducted, etc.)
  • Attend to the VAT returns and administration without assistance.
  • Makes proposals for the optimization of VAT and other tax to his/her direct supervisor and/or Tax Department
  • Monitors recent national and international developments in the law
    and is able to implement these in his own field of activity. Works in
    and collects information about national and international tax law in
    consultation with Tax Department
  • Makes quarterly updates of the financial reports required by the
    articles of association and the analytical accounts for the entities
    falling within his remit, and reports on this to his/her direct
    supervisor.
  • Retains relevant reports about the project inventory management (W&T, consumables, etc.) if employed on a site
  • Retains relevant reports and overviews (insurance, payroll
    administrations, bonds and guarantees, invoicing and payment plan, etc.)
  • Prepares a liquidity plan at regular intervals for the entities in his/her remit.
  • Actively monitors the currency and fuel hedging in his/her entities.
  • Makes up a local tax plan covering several years for his/her entities.
  • Attends to the reporting (overview of claims, payments, interest calculations, etc.) for Joint Ventures.
  • Ensures that the filing system and archive is up to date.
  • Responsible for the external reporting to various government
    agencies (e.g keeping statistics, reporting information needed for
    certain permits, etc.)
  • Responsible for compiling and filing the annual accounts of the entities
  • Helps with external audits, transfer cost audits, and all other tax audits, including VAT inspections
Candidate Requirements
  • First degree must be minimum of HND in accounting or f any related discipline from a reputable university.
  • At least two(2) years experience in an international company as accountant, preferably in any industry.
  • Operational knowledge of Tax Regulations & Law in Nigeria
  • PC tools literate.
  • Able to work in Dynamics AX.
  • Team player.
  • Must be fluent in English.
